Dont worry about alkp. Mine has been through the roof for many years. All i have found out is that it goes up the more cysts you have. Nothing has been done but ive not seen a liver dr since 2003 and that was an accident. In the absence of a renal specialist he drew the short straw.

Thanks for the replies. I had one person tell me it's possible it's from the Losartan medication I've been taking, which I've been on for about 2 years now. I've also read that the keto diet can elevate the liver enzymes. But if I'm to understand the enzymes get elevated regardless of being on the keto diet or not, then perhaps I should rule the diet out as being the cause. It's just interesting to see that the spike has been more drastic over the past one year compared to all other years. I wonder why.--

My liver enzymes have been elevated lately, and I'm wondering if it's because of the vegetarian-keto diet that I've been on, which I started about 4 months ago.Specifically, these are the liver enzymes that have been increasing more drastically ever since I started the diet. I had two lab tests done this month, 2 weeks apart:-Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) = 58 unit/L & then 67 unit/L respectively, up from 43 unit/L 6 months before.-Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) = 185 unit/L & then 217 unit/L respectively, up from 117 unit/L 6 months before.-Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) = 43 unit/L & then 46 unit/L respectively, up from 33 unit/L 6 months before.-Bilirubin Direct = was 0.34 mg/dL, outside the reference range of <=0.18 mg/dL.I came across some articles that mentioned that the Keto diet could cause liver enzymes to elevate. I'm considering taking myself off the diet, but I'm not sure yet. Thought I'd hear if others have had similar experiences and what they did to correct their enzyme levels. Thanks,Afshin
