Hi
Exercise doesnt help with whats known as the renal podge no matter what you do. I have a quite a tum and look like a Belsen victim elsewhere and been subject of cruel comments including a doctor gp. Gps just dont get the training they need to as it is not just polycystic diseases that lead to the renal podge. Unless they choose the renal specialisation track they do not know enough about renal matters considering the unfortunately high numbers of patients they come across. Many renal diseases do and it also occurs in starvation cases such as those seen in Ethiopia in the 80s.

Hi
Back pain with pkd and pld is normal however certainly if you have pkd there are genetic links with two back conditions. The first is called Scoliosis which is where the spine has a kink front to back or from side to side. The second is Spina Bifida Occulta where the neural nerve is not covered in from tour hips down. People with this tend to have low back pain, be clumsy, have poor coordination and poor spatial awareness. You could have one or both of these conditions.
I have huge kidneys and liver which press on my back and have both of the back conditions plus a prolapsed disc and renal osteodystrophy, a disease where every bone rots. The pain is so excrutiating the only thing i can do is walk up and down any of the day or night. There is nothing for the pain.
