do not think are diploma is useless....this has happen to many
universities over the years..but i am not 100% on what happens to the
diploma we have.
on are resume or CV i guess we can just put the new name of the
university....and when they need are diploma we can say that was the
old name.
do not think it well be a big deal to a company that knows about
merger.

Unfortunately there are many large assumptions hidden here. I don't
think it can be assumed that the merger will be well known and that
still does not answer all issues even if it was. There are many open
questions, such as how easy it will be to obtain transcripts if you
need them. Also, many companies will want to actually call someone to
verify your GPA and other details, will they easily be able to do
this?

At this point none of the details of how this would work and what
guarantees will be provided by NYU are available. I think most will at
least want NYU to issue paper-work saying that they fully recognize
your degree and that you will have all the benefits that accompany
being an alumnus.

Shafik ... actually that's what is bothering most of us.
There is no guarantees by NYU.
We all at least want NYU to issue paper-work.

Expecially for Alumnus ... that is outside United State.

p.s FIY I'm currently in Taiwan.

Shafik,

After reading all the alumni concerns it seems to me that there is an
inadequate
amount of time to respond and initiate actions before the October 10
trustees.
I believe the alumni with whom you have responded have many legitimate
concerns
which must be addressed before the trustees can make an informed decision.
Therefore, it would be prudent of them to table this decision until alumni
concerns are responded to and ameliorated.

Please request this before the October 10 meeting to allow sufficient time
for the
Administration to confer with NYU and obtain COMMITMENTS IN WRITING to
resolve
these concerns. This will allow the Poly Administration time to revise the
MOU for presentation to the trustees at their next meeting. This is the only
way to insure that oral commitments will be honored.

Thank you for the time and effort you are putting into this very important
effort.

Sincerely,

Gerald Herskowitz '57

As an alumnus from Poly, I was wondering how would become our POLY
diploma after the merger...Can we get assurance from NYU, that the
already issued Poly diploma will be treated in equal status as an NYU
diploma. Just in case, if someone wants to find out the authenticity
of our diploma, NYU will treat the POLY diploma as their own diploma
and provide assistance whenever necessary. As a second question, are
we going to become NYU alumni after the merger and have access to all
NYU alumni resources after the merger..?

Thanks..

MS from Poly
