Dear all,

I have a student here at Portsmouth who is looking at palynological samples from the Lower Cretaceous Wessex Fm (Isle of Wight, UK) for his final year undergraduate dissertation.

He's come across something in the slides that he has been calling a glandular trichome, due to the unusual morphology and comparisons with images elsewhere - I wondered if anyone might be able to confirm/deny?  (It's the best image he has at the moment).

While I'm a palaeopalynologist myself, my specialisation is lower Palaeozoic acritarchs & chitinozoans, so although I'm supervising the project I only have a passing knowledge of the typical Wealden spores/pollen.

Many thanks in advance,

Tony Butcher
