So much for fiscal sanity.

You take that and the VA you are spending over 2 trillion.  The rest of discretionary spending doesn't even equal that. In fact it is less than half of that.

But hey, let's cut the budget for National Parks, that should get us there!

I believe you have someone in the military. You don't want them to have what they need to protect this country?
Doesn't surprise me.

We don't need 1.5 trillion in spending.   One can be both pro-military and against this type of spending. I get how you think life is an either or thing, but it is not.

Of course....you think your opinions are the smarter ones. It's one your character flaws. One of the more irritating ones.

<< But hey, let's cut the budget for National Parks, that should get us there!  >>

Exactly! They're valuable resources that could be making someone a lot of $$$, but are instead going to waste, all so selfish, greedy tree-huggers can enjoy the so-called "beauty" of so-called "Nature". Just think of all the money that could be made for Trump... er, uh, I mean... for the American people if the Trump Family was allowed to transform those ugly undeveloped "parks" -- some of them cluttered with so many trees, unraked leaves, and wild animals that you can barely see them, much less drive an off-road vehicle through one --  into gorgeous Trump Luxury Golf Resorts!

Besides, wild animals belong in zoos and places to entertain the kiddies with. Or in
"exotic meat" markets (like China's "wet markets"), where some members of America's Successful Caste will pay Big Bucks for "bushmeat" from endangered species -- the closer the species to extinction, the higher the price per pound. And, of course, for Bungalow Bill members of that caste (like brothers Donald Junior and Eric) to purchase licenses to kill elephants, tigers, and rhinos (and "RINO"s, HA-HA-HA! Get it? HA-HA-HA!)

Now that pollution, global warming, and the so-called "environment" have all been proven by Facebook to be HOAXES -- along with evolution, Round Earthism, Jeffrey Epstein, anything special happening at the Capitol on 01/06/2021, and (snicker-snicker) "Affordability", we should give our nation's oil drilling, gas fracking, mining, timber, ranching, farming and, especially, our real estate developing industries access to them. And deep six ALL federal, state and local laws to protect the so-called "environment".

Yeah the Donroe doctrine of invading and taking by force any country that has what you want, is going to require a vastly enhanced military.

Don't you think yours are?

Don't all of us think ours are?

Why bother expressing them if we don't each think our own opinions are more correct, better informed, "smarter", or in some way better than others'; especially those we're arguing with here?

<< I believe you have someone in the military. You don't want them to have what they need to protect this country?   >>

Can there ever be enough money spent on doing that?

Besides, with only rare exceptions, like World War II, most of our wars have had a lot more to do with protecting the profits of special interests -- like big fruit companies (the 20th century's "Banana Wars"), defense contractors, and Big Oil -- than with protecting the United States from any real or perceived enemies.

In fact, we're already spending more each year, in inflation-adjusted dollars, on our military now than we did in WWII, even though we're not at war with anyone now while that was an existential war of national survival. (Of course, we spent much more on it then as a percentage of GDP, but a huge portion of that GDP then was involved in war production, while our sideshow "wars" today involve a trifling percentage of the nation's production.)

But if we absolutely must increase Pentagon spending by 50% (or by any percentage) from its already obscenely high level, then let's at the very least ask those who will benefit from it the most to help pay for it, by first repealing Trump's billionaires tax cut. Instead, Trump says that he intends pay for it by increasing his Tariffs tax, thereby sticking the cost squarely on the backs of middle to lower-income American consumers!

Like the old country song says: They get the gold mine, we get the shaft...

>The president provided few details in his post on Truth Social, other than to say the money would pay for his “Dream Military.” Trump did suggest that tariff revenues could cover the increase, but even if he managed to circumvent Congress’ constitutionally mandated power over spending, existing tariff collections would still be several hundred billion short of what the president plans to ask for.<

I just understand both can be true. You think like a child and think it is black and white world.  It is why you need me and others to live.

Listen child...Let me explain it to you simply.

I THINK that 1.5 trillion is overkill for military spending.  Yet I still support our troops. get it or do I need to do a venn diagram for you.

Which country do you think needs a raise on their dividend check with the stock going out of sight?

Maybe after lib shits have decimated the military we have a need to rebuild the military and make this country strong and fierce able again.

LOL.

We have increased the spending on the military for many years.  Nobody cut the budget.

That is a myth from your overlords that told you to say that.

In fact Trump's 2020 budget was 778 billion.   Biden's 2024 budget was 968 billion.

You didn't see the word 'maybe' did ya? If we're going to spend our tax money on anything I would prefer it be spent on the military....rather than chasing billions that fraudsters have stolen from the taxpayers.

We have a 2 trillion dollar deficit.  Spending another 500K would sink us further.  I guess that only matters to fiscal conservatives.

Again...if we didn't have dem leaders across the country full on ignoring the huge frauds happening ...this wouldn't be a problem at all.

That is NOT why we have red ink.   That is a red herring.   SS, Medicare and Defense/VA are 70% of the budget and if you add interest on the debt we are about 80% there.   If you want to talk about huge fraud, DOD is famous for that.

Most of us would prefer that we spend it on improving the country and the lot of the American people.

We should spend on the military only what's needed to actually defend us. Anything more gives certain people bad ideas like invading and regime-changing other countries, or even occupying American cities.
