Those useless tubs are somehow related to the Navy Secretary’s being fired.

Battleships became obsolete decades ago. But whoever was in charge of getting these built was clever enough to have them designated "TRUMP CLASS" battleships, so we'll see aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines phased out before we'll see the end of these.

By the middle of WW2 battleships were reduced to protecting carriers and shore battering before Marine landings.
No sea dominance.
That had gone to carriers (and subs).

It is reported that US naval officers wept in the ‘20s when a bomb from a plane sank a battleship.
A demonstration.
A war prize German ship I believe.

The first ship of the.class is already slated for another person’s name.
Watch the filthy Trump steal that.

They're an artifact from sailing ship days. The whole point of battleships -- the reason they were called "battle"ships -- was that they would line up horizontally against the enemy's battleships (aka "ships of the the line") and bang away at each other with rows of cannon from close up as they moved along.
I forget if it was the Battle of Midway or
the Battle of Leyte Gulf that became the first time a major Naval battle was fought entirely by aircraft from carriers, and the opposing ships never even saw each other visually.

Midway
Leyte Gulf was the last time major ships fired on each other.

China’s “carrier killer” missiles could just as easily be “battleship busters.”
