May be an image of the Oval Office and text that says 'BREAKING: The Supreme Court sets a hearing date for Donald Trump's alleged illegal demolition of the White House East Wing after the National Trust for Historic Preservation filed a $10 billion lawsuit against him for violating federal environmental and heritage protection laws.'

The claim that the Supreme Court is hearing a case about the demolition of the White House East Wing is false
The image is a fake "breaking news" graphic that has circulated online since at least 2025.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has not filed a \(\$10\) billion lawsuit against Donald Trump for violating federal environmental and heritage laws.
The White House East Wing has not been illegally demolished.

  • White House East Wing Demolition & EEOB Repainting (Recent): Most recently, in October and November 2025, preservation groups, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the DC Preservation League, sued the Trump administration over the demolition of the White House East Wing for a proposed ballroom and plans to repaint the historic Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB).
    • The National Trust has also sent letters to government agencies urging a pause on construction and demanding that the projects go through the legally required public review processes.
    • Separate lawsuits were filed by other parties, such as a Virginia couple, over the White House project, alleging violations of federal preservation and planning laws.
For more information on the National Trust's advocacy and legal work, you can visit their website at savingplaces.org.

  • The court: The case is ongoing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, not the Supreme Court.
