I'll never understand America's march to autocracy and authoritarianism. I was raised to despise fascism, and always assumed that most other Americans did too. Even most conservatives.

Germans in the 1920s and 30s at least had the excuse of the insanely punitive post-WWI Versailles Treaty, a severe depression, and hyperinflation of around 30,000%. And almost no experience with democracy.

What's our excuse? An inflation rate of 8% that's already back down to 3%?
