Then we had mandatory draft; now we have voluntary enlistment.  I don't think luis is old enough to have fallen into the first category, and so him not electing to serve is not comparable to draft dodging....

If Luis wasn't of draft age during the Vietnam War, then he couldn't possibly be a draft dodger.

Personally, I don't mind a conscientious draft dodger. I do mind a hypocritical Chickenhawk draft-dodger.  If I hadn't lucked out with a high lottery number, I might well have taken more extreme measures to avoid going. But at least it wasn't just my own precious hide I was concerned with. I opposed the Vietnam War on principle, and like Bill Clinton, I marched and demonstrated against it, and against sending my peers off to fight and die in it. 

While he's not as hypocritical about it as all the Vietnam War draft dodgers who went after Bill Clinton for not going -- Rush Limbaugh (who got out with a boil on his ass), Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney (who actually demonstrated in college FOR the war, and even FOR the draft, and then used family influence to get out of going by becoming a Mormon missionary to PARIS!) were among the worst -- president Bonespurs has never given the slightest indication that he opposed the war, except for himself.

When an American male (or an especially belligerent female) makes the challenging transition from late adolescence into early adulthood, he is faced with many decisions. One certain, specific combination of choices will result in his becoming a chickenhawk: choosing to “support” war, while also choosing not to serve in the military. His motto becomes: “Let’s you and him go fight; I’ll hold your coat.”

Depending on external circumstances, such an individual may become one of three varieties of chickenhawk:
• If there is no draft, and the nation is at peace, the individual becomes a Common Chickenhawk;
• If there is a draft, and the nation is at peace, the individual becomes a Chickenhawk First Class;
• If the there is a draft, and the nation is at war, the individual becomes a Chickenhawk First Class with Distinguished Fleeing Cross.

Condemn trump's unbelievably-nasty and obviously-anti-vet disparagement of McCain's service in a combat zone and his time as a POW.
