But because of our wrongheaded Electoral College system, as far as presidential elections are concerned, all that really matters is what happens in 6 or 7 swing states (including my own Georgia). And that's not only about the opinions of the voters, but how effectively MAGA state elections officials are able to rig the outcome.

BTW: With its 16 EC votes, Georgia is the only swing state in which GOPers control all statewide offices.

Georgia is about evenly divided between more liberal urban/suburban voters and more conservative rural/small town voters. But for whatever reason, it has always been harder to get the liberal Democratic voters interested in state and local races, while rightwing Republicans have been filling those offices for years. Especially after they started instituting voter suppression, registration purging, and gerrymandering in a big way.
