Simona Kossak
Saturday, March 8, 8:00 PM
Preceded by short: Service 7:30 PM
Simona Kossak was the daughter and the grand-daughter of highly accomplished artists but she chose her own path, becoming a scientist, living in Białowieża, in the middle of the forest, in a house without electricity, fighting against bureaucracy and corporate interests.
This is her true story, but well and beautifully told—a rare tale of a woman finding her way and winning battles in a world dominated by men who are annoyed the someone might want to conserve the animals they enjoy hunting. Gierszał and Drzymalska appear together in their second movie of the year, this time as unlikely lovers thrown together by a common love of nature and the need to protect the world others want to steal away. One of those movies people stand up and applaud at the end.
