Texans are rejecting GOP chaos and corruption

Something big just happened in Texas.
This weekend, voters across the state showed what it looks like to fight back at the ballot box.
From city halls to school boards, Texans rejected the GOP’s chaos and corruption and chose leaders who will actually show up and do the work.
- In Pearland, Quentin Wiltz was elected mayor in a Republican stronghold.
- In Arlington, Brittney Garcia-Dumas flipped a city council seat in the 5th district.
- In Denton, Jordan Villarreal won a city council seat in the 1st district, and Anita Martinez-Strickland won a seat on the Denton ISD Board of Trustees.
- In Grapevine, Matthew White, Lindsey Sheguit, and Darrell Brown ousted GOP-aligned incumbents on the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Board.
- In San Antonio, Michael Adam Wulczyn and Caprice Garcia flipped two seats on the North East ISD Board of Trustees.
- In Travis County, Tiffany Bennett and Natalie Nugent flipped two seats on the Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees.
These races are all telling us something we’ve been hearing on the campaign trail: Texans are tired of leaders who serve their donors first and us second. They want strong public schools and community leaders who work for them.
So, if anyone tells you change can’t happen in Texas, point them to what happened this weekend — change is already happening.
