A moment to grieve, check in, and stand together after another ICE killing.

Friend,

The fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, an immigrant father killed by ICE in Houston while on his way to work, is a devastating reminder of what happens when an agency is allowed to operate without accountability.

Since his death, Joan Sebastian Duran Guerrero was killed during an immigration enforcement operation in Maine, and another person lost their life during an ICE encounter in Florida today, marking the third death in a week.

These are not isolated incidents. They are the predictable results of giving an agency more power, more resources, and too little accountability.

Let’s honor Lorenzo, Joan, and all the people whose lives ICE has shattered by standing with their families, telling their stories, and demanding accountability from the agencies and elected officials responsible for putting our communities at risk.

But grief must also move us to action:

Tell your lawmaker: hold ICE accountable!

Just weeks ago, Republicans in Congress approved nearly $70 billion in new funding for ICE and CBP. Because of the organizing and pressure from people like you, sending emails, making calls, and refusing to let this become normal not a single Democrat voted for that bill.

Now we must demand that Congress use its power to hold ICE accountable. Without meaningful oversight, we risk more unchecked enforcement, more families torn apart, and more lives lost.

Justice for Lorenzo means demanding transparency, independent investigations, and real accountability for an agency that has no problem taking lives.

Lorenzo's family deserves justice.

Joan Sebastián's family deserves justice.

Every family shattered by immigration enforcement deserves justice.

Our communities deserve safety.

Take action and demand ICE is held accountable!

Pa'lante
