Alabama Republicans just called a special session to redraw their congressional maps, despite the primary being only weeks away.
Absentee ballots have already gone out, voters are sending them in, and now, with the ink barely dry on the Supreme Court's decision gutting the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, Alabama's GOP is moving to rip up the map anyway to draw out Alabama’s two current Democratic members of Congress. Gov. Kay Ivey told lawmakers they could get it done this week!
This is not redistricting – this is a heist conducted in broad daylight, while voters are actively trying to participate in a live election!
And Alabama is not alone. Louisiana has already suspended congressional primaries to redraw maps, and Tennessee Republicans are zeroing in on Memphis – the last Democratic district in the state.
This is the Republican plan to hold the House. Not by earning more votes or governing for the people, but by stealing
