Happy Father’s Day!

On this Father’s Day, I wanted to take a quick break from the campaign trail to talk about someone who usually stays behind the scenes, but who makes everything this campaign accomplishes possible — my husband, John.
Running for Governor of Texas is a massive, non-stop undertaking. The days are long, and I travel a lot. But through every single high and low, John has been my anchor.
I always say that I never planned to get into politics. I’m a mom who got mad when my son’s school was threatened for closure. But when I chose to step up and fight back — first running for school board and later for the Texas House — John stood by me.
Now, as we take on the biggest fight of our lives to defeat Greg Abbott in November, John is still my rock.
He’s the one keeping our family grounded, managing the chaotic schedule, and offering words of encouragement late at night when I’m feeling discouraged. He is an incredible father, an amazing husband, and a great team member.
The truth is, I would not be able to do this work without him.
Happy Father’s Day, John, and to all of the fathers and father figures.
