Intimate partner homicide (IPH) generally follows a pattern of abuse escalation and there are often warning signs before the killing, making them one of the most preventable types of homicide. Firearms play a significant role in IPH cases, increasing the likelihood of lethality by more than 400% when present in households with a history of intimate partner violence.
