AIPAC is talking a big game after losing half their races in the Illinois Democratic primaries this week.
The Israel lobby group won just half of the congressional seats they spent $21 million trying to buy, and $12 million of that was in losing races — but they’re bragging about defeating Kat Abughazaleh because their chosen candidate came in THIRD place.
They claim these victories prove that “being pro-Israel is good policy and good politics,” but the reality is their brand and platform are so toxic that they had to hide behind shadow PACs to secretly fund their chosen candidates and avoid even mentioning Israel in any of the ads they ran.
No matter how many tweets AIPAC's social media intern puts out, they made a $21 million bet on Illinois — outspending everyone in every primary — and lost 2 races & barely won another despite outspending their opponents more than 5:1.
The moral of the story is their money isn't enough to buy every race, and if they have to hide behind fake names and avoid talking about the singular issue they care about, they aren’t really winning.
AIPAC’s power in Washington is slipping as our progressive movement calls them out and rejects their Trump-supporting megadonor money. The majority of Democrats who oppose them and Israel’s genocide only grows larger by the day.
