Friends -
I am in the business of winning, and winning requires us to go on offense. If you're anything like me, you're probably sick of just playing defense as a party.
Sometimes that means getting creative. And one of the things I was really impressed with during my recent trip to Idaho -- one of the reddest states in the country -- was a ballot initiative they're working on to restore choice in a state that lost all reproductive rights after Roe was overturned.
In Michigan, we saw the power of a ballot initiative that supports choice. In 2022, we passed ours with 56.7% of the vote.
It won overwhelmingly in a swing state because it’s an issue that cross-cuts the political divide as an issue about the health and safety of all women. It also wins in red states like Kansas, where voters chose to defend reproductive rights with 59%.
In Idaho, they are very close to getting the issue on their ballot as well. And when they do, it will help turn out the voters in a tough state, flipping some local races in the process.
In order to qualify for the ballot, they'll need to submit more than 70,000 signatures from all parts of the state by the end of April. They are getting close to their goal but support at this phase is hugely helpful.
I loved my first trip to Idaho and I want to help -- and I hope you'd be willing to, as well.
Thank you for reading, and for being an active participant in supportive creative ways to win in this year's election.
