New York State’s Fiscal Year 2027 Enacted Budget moves the state significantly closer to universal, affordable childcare. Expanding pre-Kindergarten programs in schools, enhancing childcare tax credits, and investing in the state's Child Care Assistance Program are among the key provisions in the budget that will reshape childcare in years to come. In order to meet the needs of this expansion, however, the state will need to substantially build its workforce of childcare workers and preschool teachers.
