When I was 15, my family was ripped apart when my father was deported, and my sisters and I were raised by our single mother in northeast LA. My roots are in Highland Park, where generations of my working-class family have lived and built community, and where I’m proud to have led the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council.

I’ve lived the struggles our community faces — from housing instability to wage stagnation, from family separation to gun violence — and I know what it means to fight for real change.
