1 dead in Hudson Avenue shooting
One person was killed in a daylight shooting on Hudson Avenue today in the City of Poughkeepsie.
City
police said one person was killed and no one else was injured. No
suspects are in custody, Detective Lt. William Siegrist said.
While
police haven't released the name of the victim yet, family members have
identified him as Abdullah Haddad, 27, of the City of Poughkeepsie.
A
report of the shooting came in at 3:12 p.m., Detective Sgt. Matt Clarke
said. One person was shot and there were no other injuries reported.
Hudson Avenue was closed while police investigated the scene of the killing — the victim was in a car that rear-ended a tree.
Fifth Ward Councilwoman Penny Lewis said she was told by police there was a shooting and the body of the victim was in the car.
Lewis
said she asked police to cover up the car so nearby children would not
see the corpse. A forensic van was moved to block the view of the car.
The body was removed before the car was towed away.
Forensic personnel at the scene collected evidence and took photos. The driver's side window appeared to have bullet holes.
Amid the investigation, police had to break up a fight down the street.
