Burglar points gun at man, pulls trigger, gun doesn’t
fire
POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man
is lucky to be alive today as a would-be burglar pointed a gun at him
just before midnight late Sunday, pulled the trigger but it didn’t
fire.
The resident called 911 to report a possible burglary at 210 Main Street
at 11:56 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said a resident discovered a Poughkeepsie man, identified as William
Dubois, 26, in the basement area of the building removing property from
a locked storage area. The resident left the basement, went outside and
was accosted by another man with the gun, who fled when the gun didn’t
fire.
The suspect, later identified as Jamel Williams, 19, of Poughkeepsie,
was apprehended on the roof of a building and a .22 caliber semi-automatic
handgun was recovered at the scene.
Williams was charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, and
criminal possession of stolen property. Dubois was charged with burglary.
