Dear Girls,

All the best for your exams, and for your classmates too! The format of the paper is that there will be 7 questions, 6 from each of the 6 topics and the 7th from the National Museum piece. However none of the questions will be compulsory and you can answer any 4. I am available on phone for any doubts to be clarified. Please let your respective classes know. If you have time left over, try and underline key words, concepts, names of authors and their pieces, names from the texts used as examples....Langas, Manganiyars, Pothibanchas, Mukhabanchas, Kalbelia women, Lakha, Bhambhi boy, story of Punia etc...as one eg, but please use them in relevant contexts!!!! (as in don't just bunch them together...or throw them around for effect!!!!)
some tips...already sent to English dept...but for Socio and Pol Science too...ALL THE VERY BEST!!!!

Tips for writing your exams to share on your social network group with your class:

1. Please read the question thoroughly to understand the focus, nuances, being asked.

2. The introduction and conclusion should not be vague. They should be directly pertinent to the question and informative. The introduction should show the objectives of the exploration in the answer, based on what is being asked, with only directly relevant contextual information.
The conclusion should have definite statements.

3. In the body of the essay, there should be a logical structuring of the points discussed. Make short paragraphs, separate ones for separate points.

4. Mention of the articles read and their authors, where relevant. Also please make sure there is a balance between examples cited from the text and analysis made. Both are important. More emphasis o analysis without sufficient supportive inputs leads to generalised answers, and only factual information will not get high scores either.

All the best!!!!

Sonali
