Playing Poker online is made simple because you can depend on the
virtual ‘room’ or ‘software’ to do everything for you. Once you
decided on which site is best suited for you, you will be placed at a
table usually containing 10 opponents.

The virtual dealer shuffles the deck and discards the ‘burn’ card –
this is a long tradition and you will see this done inside the brick
and mortar casinos as well. The ‘burn’ card is the first card on top
of the shuffled deck that gets thrown away before actually dealing to
the players.

You will receive two cards, referred to as ‘Hole’ cards. They will
appear face-up for you to see on screen. Obviously you don’t have to
worry about any of your opponents seeing your cards.

Next, the ‘Blinds’ are posted. There is the ‘Big Blind’ and the ‘Small
Blind’ – these are ‘antes’ which must be ‘Posted’ before the game
actually begins. This is why they are referred to as the ‘Blinds’.
Simply put, you are posting an ante without knowing what’s in store
for the remainder of the cards. Like stated previously, online you
don’t really need to worry about knowing when to act or post – the
software does it for you.

The dealer than deals the first of the community cards in the centre
of the table – this first round is called ‘The Flop’ and totals three
cards. Another round of betting begins. You can expect some raising,
checking and even hard core bluffing at this point, so just remember
to fully understand the ranks before starting any game.
Next the dealer lies down just one card, called the ‘Turn’ and another
round of betting begins. At this point things can get aggressive, but
understanding some basic strategy and making sure you are pitted
against other beginners can ensure some easy fun.

The next card to hit the table is referred to as the ‘River’ card –
this is the last card and ultimately tells you if you have a winning
hand. You are using your ‘hole’ cards in conjunction with the
community cards to build a Five-Card winning Poker hand.

The only big job you have is finding the right online casino to
practice your mad skills. Just remember, the best online casinos will
always let you play for FREE first. Practice and practice some more
before blowing your hard earned cash.
