I am a user of a (cracked or something) Avira antivirus but yesterday I decided to replace it with another antivirus. I tried to uninstall this Avira with the traditional way (Control Panel -> Uninstall) but nothing happened. I tried again and it said that another program is being uninstalled so I rebooted my PC in order to try again.
When I did, a window said that this program has compatibility issues. I tried to delete Avira's folder from program files but it said that "Access is denied". I have tried almost everything: REVO Uninstaller, Avira remover, I deactivated the Program compatibility Assistant, I took the ownership for the Avira's folder in order to delete it and more more things, but still nothing. Also I can't install the new antivirus cause of this compatibility issue.
The path is this C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira and yes mean this Avira AntiVir Removal Tool which I didnt download from the official site of Avira cause link is broken so I am not sure that I used the right tool. That is the ss
It seems that there are many users who have difficulty uninstalling programs like Avira Free Antivirus from their systems. Some experience issues during uninstallation, whereas other encounter problems after the program is removed.
There could be other causes why users may not be able to uninstall Avira Free Antivirus. An incomplete uninstallation of a program may cause problems, which is why thorough removal of programs is recommended.
Decided to goback and redo the install so tried Uninstalling using Add/Rem Progams (there was no Uninstall option in the Avira folder in Start Menu). That began OK but got a popup indicating Uninstall failed but it went away and the Uninstall routine indicated it had finished ok.
Figured reinstalling again might clean everything up so ran Setup again this time with all Apps closed except WinExp but Setup had issues and after Reboot found parts of the installation seemed to be missing/incorrect.
It did remove Avira from Add/Rem Programs but it didn't remove a lot else (Program Files\Avira folders still have many files, Start Menu still showing Avira, 2 Avira related services were running, Avira item in Control Panel??, Avira item on right click menu, Avira Folders and contents under Documents and Settings, much Registry pollution re Avira, etc). What concerned me a bit was that the Avira Services were apparently still configured in the Registry to be in the Start-up Programs list and in the Services list, they could not be stopped.
What are the chances that the installation file is corrupt. You should have download directly from -download-avira-antivir-personal. Do you have any other security software that might be interfering? Should you have any other question(s) please post back using button
@TonyKlein_I had run across the avira_registry_cleaner_en.zip option last night but wasn't sure if it was a reliable tool. I have since downloaded it and will give it try later today and let you know what happens.
@Haider_good question re integrity of the 100921dl_avira_antivir_personal_en.exe file I had downloaded from downloads.com. For what its worth the file shows as 43057KB and as mentioned, the initial Setup routine last night seemed to result in a good install. IF I can first get everything clean (using removal tool Tony suggested), I might try reinstalling. IF I do so, I'll take your advice and download a Setup.exe directly from -download-avira-antivir-personal.
Please go ahead and let us know the end result. Good luck. I would also apologize on behalf of Firefox the link is good and working, however, at this point you don't have access to it
@Firefox_no problem me re the prior link and my not being honorary (at least here yet) but thanks for sharing the new one as that's a handy list (links to access Uninstaller.exe's for several popular malware scanning apps) for all of us dealing with these issues and apps to know about. Apparently its not uncommon for Uninstall via Add/Rem Progs for these apps to leave problematic remnants in place.
FYI, after successfully cleaning up Uninstallation of Avira with the Registry Cleaner app, I did rerun the Avira setup again (downloaded a fresh copy from Avira site...turned out it was the apparently the same file I had used prior from download.com). The installation of v10.0.0.567 and updating seemed to go smoothly. I've run several scans since and they seem to have run as intented.
To overcome this issue please restart Windows and try again to install Bitdefender 2016. As soon as Bitdefender starts unpacking the installation (do not wait for the same notification to appear), do the following:

I can confirm that the above file works. Now bitdefender installs, but the next problem is that bdagent.exe does not create an autorun entry so after a reboot bd does not autostart. It seems some problem with the registry in combination with windows 10. I installed bd on a Win10 pro edition (kav uninstalled) without any problem. The Win10 home version is causing problems. There is a known bug with the registry editor in Win10 version 1511 in relation to long registrykeys > 255.
Since the kav uninstaller and remover program have problems removing the old registry keys and bd new install cannot create an autorun key it seems that the problem exists in the registry and possibly only under Win10 home. I wonder if other people with problems have these problems under a Win10 home edition.
Last week I removed BD completely and installed Kaspersky IS as I wanted to have a look at it. A couple of days later I uninstalled KS IS using their uninstall tool and re-installed BD TS. I had no problems such as you are describing, it all went smoothly. I am running Windows 10 Home, v.1511, build 10586.122.

Thank you!
I have tried all the suggestions on getting Antivirus Plus 2016 to download but keep getting the error message regarding Kapersky. The only option I did not try is the one addressed to Kat. Been working on this far too long and am extremely frustrated with BD. What's going on and how is one suppose to resolve this issue?
When trying to open Messages - the app would either not "freeze" and not open - causing me to force quit and try again OR it would take several minutes for it to open. If it did finally open the messages would not be synched with my other devices, new messages would not show, and I was unable to send messages. It was as if something is preventing it from opening and when it does - it simply won't function properly.
When trying to open Contacts - basically the same thing would happen (as it did with messages). Most of the time it would not open. If it did, it would be sluggish and not connect to my iCloud contacts (even after me taking numerous steps to get them to synch - following steps outlined in the support forums (e.g., checking messages status on iCloud, deleting the account and reading it, etc.)
While using Safari - it I typed anything into the search bar at the top of the browser window the app would stop working and require a force quit. Thankfully I have my setting to open a google page when opening a new tab. So I had a work around, but it was annoying.
After a considerable amount of time spent, I decided to erase Ventura and go back to an earlier OS. I restart my iMac in recovery mode - and erased the hard drive. The only option for an OS install was Ventura. So, I figured I would give it a shot and installed it. This seemed to fix some of the other weird issues I had and also fixed the Safari issue. However, the problems with Messages and Contacts continue (as described above). But now - the App store will not open. I try to open it from the Dock and it just hangs (and never opens).
So, I tried the clean install, and only transferred my account, and I am unfortunately still running into the same issues. In fact, it seems that the app store is back to not responding. I happen to check FaceTime and found that is not working either. I included some screenshots below and I also re-installed EtreCheck and ran another report (also included). Maybe I did the clean install wrong? Or is there something else I can try?
I'm leaning towards a problem with internet or iCloud, since you have already re-installed OS and the apps your are having trouble with all need to access the internet to get iCloud data. The App Store, Contacts using iCloud, and Messages using iCloud all require iCloud data accessed from an internet connection.
It seems that Safari is now working correctly and I assume you are getting decent speed accessing web sites, so to narrow it down to iCloud, can you log into www.icloud.com and see your iCloud data? If you click on the Contacts app icon on that page does the correct data show up quickly, or does it hang?
Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.
I am getting decent internet connection speeds. I am able to log into iCloud through my Safari browser and see my contacts without any issue. I already tried removing the iCloud account from my internet accounts, restarting and re-adding it. I gave that another shot - just to see if maybe it would work with the re-install that I just did, and unfortunately that did not work. I pasted a screenshot that you asked for below. Thanks for trying to help!
My biggest problem with Ventura 13.1 has been in GooGle meet when in use in Safari. It's says the connection was lost from time to time while I can See in other computer in my side that the wifi and internet are going well. Even sharing my 5g or 4g lte from iphone it keeps doing this. During a meet you can see some instability and them connection with wifi was lost, while the wifi is ok.
