PRESS RELEASE    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Spiral Thought is launching a new reading series this summer and fall at 6/15 Green, a community garden located at the corner of 6th Avenue and 15th Street in South Park Slope. Admission will be free, and the events will be open to the public.

Readings are booked on the following dates, all Wednesdays, starting at 6:00 p.m.: August 23, September 6 & 20, and October 4 & 18.

Features currently scheduled are as follows:
August 23: Madeline Artenberg and Austin Alexis; September 6: Bob Heman and Karen Neuberg; September 20: Joshua Meander. More will be added as the dates approach.

We’re recruiting poets, prose writers and acoustic musicians to perform in this lush urban oasis; the garden is one of the largest in the area, and features seating, tables and a privy. Visual artists are also encouraged to submit artwork for publication in the magazine (especially on the cover).

Anyone interested in performing (or being published) should send a sample of their writing or music to spiral...@gmail.com, or provide a link to a site where samples can be seen or heard. Spiral Thought Magazine Issue 5 is posted on the blog as a sample. There is no financial remuneration available for performers at this time, but passing the hat is encouraged. Members of the community are encouraged to participate. Additional features will be scheduled, and an open mic will follow the feature performances.

The neighborhood has a wide variety of places to pick up refreshments to enjoy at the garden.

Please keep in mind that this is an outdoor venue, and the garden does not have tents or shelter. In the event of rain, the event will be cancelled with an option to reschedule on a rain date based upon performer availability. Schedule changes will be posted on the blog.

6/15 Green is easily accessible by mass transit using the F train (7th Avenue or 15th Street stations), the R train (Prospect Avenue - which is currently being renovated, but the work should be finished this fall), and the 68, 63, and 61 buses. 6/15 Green is a 501 ©) 3 organization. Please visit the website for more information: www.615green.org.
