AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF LOCATION!
Our TENTH Poetry Anthology, established over 2 decades ago by the First Tuesday Poets, is now open for submissions!
 
"The Everyday As Extraordinary"
Send up to 4 of your own poems, in a Word Doc, 11 point font, maximum 35 lines counting line breaks to Poetlaure...@gmail.com with the subject line "Anthology." You do not have to write to the theme.
Submission period is October 6 through December 8.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5, is the last date to view the wonderful art pieces at Martinez Main Street Art Gallery and submit your inspired ekphrastic poem or prose!  (12 point font, Word doc, 40 lines of poetry or 400 words of prose)
The Gallery's open hours, details for submission, and samples of art work in the current show can be found on Mainstreetarts.net. Guidelines can also be found at BeniciaLiteraryArts.org, cosponsor.

NOW!  Guidelines and Applications for the position of the NEXT POET LAUREATE are now posted on the Library web site, BeniciaLibrary.org -"events" - "adult" - "Poet Laureate."  If you have a heart for leading/serving the poetry community and extending the joy and relevance of poetry to poets and non-poets alike, please consider this position.  The 2 year term runs Jan. 2026 through Dec. 2027.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, is the DEADLINE for viewing the art pieces in the show "Fall Is Here" and submitting your inspired ekphrastic poem to Fairfieldpoetl...@gmail.com.  Guidelines are max 42 lines, 12 point font, in Word doc, with the top left corner first line showing art piece and artist, and second line showing name of poem and poet.  The show is at  The Solano Town Center Gallery, 1350 Travis Blvd., #D8, Fairfield, OR view it at fvaa-arts.org.  Reading and reception is Oct. 18, 3-6 pm. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19 is the DEADLINE for submitting to LIT FEST 6 STORYTELLING AND POETRY. This event sponsored by the Winters Theatre Company is held in the historic WINTERS OPERA HOUSE on November 7, 6-8 pm, free, with suggested donation of $10.  Send your poetry in a plain text file, .txt, docx, or pdf, to Janene.w...@gmail.com

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26, 6 pm:  Terra Oliveira will be doing a reading from her latest book, Itinerant Songs, at BOOKSHOP BENICIA, 636 First St. Come hear her soulful poetry - books available for sale.

PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITY:  The Napa/Solano Area Agency on Aging would like to begin a Poetry Corner in each newsletter penned by poets aged 65 or older, called "Words of Wisdom."  If you would like to contribute a poem, send it to Dr. Alan Werblin at docb...@aol.com for consideration.
