Final thoughts

Dear Poetry Friends,

The last 2 years as Poet Laureate and the last 6 months as Interim have been a wonderful ride. And now it is time, after over 50 events, and 30 newsletters, to say good-bye to the position, and welcome our new Benicia Poet Laureate, D Hakim!  Hakim brings a wealth of experience and some exciting new ideas. 

Hakim will be taking over this email site shortly.  If you would like to reach me after July 1, I am sure Hakim will forward it to me.

My last event will be (drum roll please) the book launch of Anthology X: The Everyday as Extraordinary.  It is a beautiful book, 187 pages chock full of gorgeous poetry from 46 poets with Mary Eichbauer and myself as editors. The launch will be in the Dona Benicia Room of the Benicia Library, THIS SUNDAY, June 28, 2-4 pm with the doors open at 1:30. It's a celebration with readings from the book from each author and refreshments on the table.  For the larger poetry community outside of the book's contributors, the sale price is $17.95.

FOR OUR FRIENDS AT A DISTANCE:   The book will also be available on the website BeniciaLiteraryArts.org.  OR you can order it through the bookstore in your local area (Ingram-Sparks publisher).

Thank you for all your kind expressions of support during my term. Your thanks and encouragement was definitely appreciated, and I know you will show Hakim the same support.
