2022 Joel Fallon Poetry Scholarships Awarded

Just wanted to officially let you know that this year’s poetry scholarships have been awarded. Tyler Foy from Benicia High School and Karina Remy from Liberty High School are this year’s winners. Johanna Ely and Ronna Leon interviewed the candidates who applied for the scholarships. Articles on Karina and Tyler that I have submitted to the Benicia Herald are attached.
Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the scholarship fund, and, as always, thanks to Joel Fallon who initiated the scholarship program (back before the scholarship was named for him) as a way to recognize and encourage young poets.

Azza Mariem Abdou from Benicia High School and Rory Livesay Coyne from Liberty High School are this year’s winners. Articles on Azza and Rory that I have submitted to the Benicia Herald are attached. As always, it was a great joy to read the applications. Johanna Ely, Ronna Leon, and Tom Stanton interviewed three of the ten candidates who applied for the scholarship from Benicia High School and the candidate from Liberty High School before making unanimous recommendations for the awards.
