Dear Poetry Lovers Near and Far,

THE NATIONAL BENICIA LOVE POETRY CONTEST IS ALMOST HERE!

Stay tuned - next weekend you will receive an email with the flyer and guidelines for the contest!  Opening day is SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1, and the entry period will run for 7 weeks.  But don't delay - get those poetic love juices flowing!

TUESDAY, FEB 4, 6:30-8:30 PM:  FIRST TUESDAY OPEN MIC POETRY at the Benicia Library Fireplace offers new and experienced poets alike an enjoyable time in a supportive setting and comfy chairs. Come to read 2-3 rounds of poetry (3 minute max for each poem unless a longer piece is previously arranged) or come just to listen!!

Come at 6:15 for cookies and conversation! Hosted by Benicia Poet Laureate Katrina Monroe.

FRIDAY, FEB 7, 1-3 PM:  POETRY OUT LOUD SOLANO COUNTY COMPETITION at the Vallejo Naval Historical Museum, 734 Marin St., Vallejo.  Hear high schoolers deliver amazing spoken word performances!

SUNDAY, FEB 9, 2-4 PM:  TEA HOUSE OPEN MIC POETRY at Integrity Space, 717 Marin St, Vallejo.  Hosted by Vallejo Co Poets Laureate Kathleen Herrmann and Jacalyn Eyvonne.

MONDAYS, FEB 10 AND 24, 6:30-8:30 PM: SHUT UP AND WRITE at Benicia Library provides a time and space to do just that in a loosely structured and independent environment. Hosted by Kyle Gerner.

THURSDAY, FEB 20, 11-12 AM:  TABLE TALK at the Inn at Benicia Bay, East D St., Benicia offers an opportunity for writers of all types and experiences to share practical tips, inspiration and support (10:30 for brunch/socializing.)  Please contact Grimm...@gmail.com to reserve space, get info or be put on email list.

WEDNESDAY, FEB 26, 7 PM:  POETRY BY THE BAY at Mira Theatre, 51 Daniels Ave, Vallejo, for an open mic opportunity.

THURSDAY, FEB 27, 10:30 AM:  ART BEAT POETRY HOUR ON OZCAT RADIO, 89.5fm or Tune In App across the country.  Poets are invited to come at 10:20 to read 2 rounds of their pieces on live radio, with DJ LaLa and host Tom Stanton.
