Dear Lovers of Poetry,
You don't want to miss these!
A cheerful reminder of an event in 3 days - Tuesday, September 16, 6:30 in the Dona Benicia room at the Library!
TERRA OLIVEIRA will be reading from her newly released book Itinerant Songs. She is the founder and editor of Recenter Press, and her poetry has appeared in multiple journals.
The second hour will be an Open Mic, so bring 1-2 soulful poems (whatever way you define it) in keeping with the theme of her book.
See link below.
The Main Street Arts Gallery is open for you to choose one of their beautiful pieces to write inspired poetry or prose (W-Sat 11-4, Su 10-3.) The ekphrastic reading will be October 12 at 3:30. Details at the Gallery, on websites BeniciaLiteraryArts.org and MainStreet Arts.net
See link below.
New - save the date of Thursday, November 13 at 6:30 for a workshop on Poetry Lyrics and Melody led by Gail Wasserman and Tom Stanton. Details forthcoming.
Of course, we are continuing our Open Mic Series on first Tuesdays from October through December in the comfy chairs in front of the fireplace in the Benicia Library at 6:30.
******And finally, our California State Poet, Lee Herrick, will be joining us in the Dona Benicia Room, as he gives us his favorite readings from his published and unpublished works. Put the date of Saturday, December 6 at 3:30 in your calendar now so you are sure not to miss it! The second hour will be an Open Mic and the theme is Holiday Traditions, so bring a poem reflecting your thoughts, experiences, ethnic, family, religious or secular traditions.
We will have live holiday music by Angie Davidson and Marcy Orendorff, book signings and of course culinary treats so come early for this poetry party!
This will be the last event of my 2 year tenure and we are ending with a bang! Hope to see as many of you as possible there!
Peace, passion and poetry,
Kathy
