Sarah Michelle Sherman will read
at the Social Justice Center

Albany Poet Sarah Michelle Sherman will read from her work at the Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave., Albany, NY on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 7:30PM, with an open mic for community poets.
Sarah Michelle Sherman’s work has appeared in HuffPost, Scary Mommy, Insider, Today, Parents, and other outlets. She is a passionate believer in the power of storytelling to foster empathy, connection, and a sense of belonging and is currently working on a collection of personal essays exploring depression, motherhood, the end of her marriage, and the search to find herself through it all.
A reading by a local or regional poet/writer has been held since July 2006 each third Thursday at the Social Justice Center. The event includes an open mic for audience members to read. Sign-up starts at 7:00PM, with the reading beginning at 7:30. The host of the readings is Albany poet and photographer Dan Wilcox. The suggested donation is $5.00, which helps support this and other poetry programs of the Poetry Motel Foundation, and the work of the Social Justice Center.
