ART IN THE PARK 2026

Exquisite Corpse:

One poem, Many voices

Visitors to our table at the Art in the Park event were delighted (especially kids!) to add a line to our communal poem, using a vintage manual typewriter. Here are the results!

The exquisite corpse shall drink the new wine

And woke to a new reality

Never mind the loose candy, the bright tie dye sun

I know, you wish everyone could be like you

But you are a shimmering jewel, not to be copies

Shine brighter every day, don’t let your light dim

Don’t go down in the dust

Not without a fuss

We are all one

Paper ink and time to think

As the hourglass drops away

The last remnants of hope fade

The bluest smoke of all

Tastes like mist and orangina

Wait, I think I hear the call

The sun on my back, like a memory of beach days gone by

Sunny days nights filled with stars

If I do not live in an hourglass then why does time slip

So readily past by fingers like a cosmos of sand?

Everything is going to be okay. They tell us.

Support Literary Arts in Saratoga

Literature is the least-supported artistic discipline in the U.S., receiving only 1.9% of the $5 billion in arts grants awarded in 2023, according to the Literary Arts Fund’s research. This disparity is persistent and has challenging effects on literary arts nonprofits and on sustaining creative writers and literary culture. Philanthropy has a profound opportunity to make a positive difference by supporting and championing literature and writers. Please give generously to the Saratoga Writers Center. Thank you!
