View this email in your browse Welcome to Jules' Poetry Playhouse newsletter update! July welcomes us with a Zoom open mic on the last Tuesday of the month. YOU are our featured poets. We look forward to hearing what you've been writing. These are troubling times, changing day by day and week by week. Poetry is one thing that can sustain us, along with community. Jules' Poetry Playhouse supports the rights of women, reproductive rights of women, and rights of all humans. We respect and support the earth and appreciate living in a state that supports women's rights. We congratulate new Albuquerque Poet Laureate, Anna Martinez who takes the helm after five previous laureates and look forward to her community outreach the next two years. We celebrate New Mexico poetry, national poetry and world-wide poetry through our Zoom community. She is our featured reader in August. See below to register. July brings new art cards and items on-line and we'll be planning more pop-up sales and back porch readings as we move later into summer.  For now, we hope you have some time for relaxation and self-care:  reading, art and writing poetry! Jules' Poetry Playhouse congratulates Anna Martinez as the sixth poet laureate for the city!  City of ABQ , the Paper  and ABQ Courier, among others. The ABQ Courier reports: "Mayor Keller said, “What a beautiful reflection of the city it is.” Martinez is set to represent the city in all things poetic for a two-year term starting July 1. Her first book of poetry, Pura Puta, A Poetic Memoir, is out now from Casa Urraca Press." Tuesday, August 30th feature is followed by open mic. 6 pm Pacific, 7 pm Mountain, 8 pm Central, 9 pm Eastern We also want to thank Albuquerque's fifth poet laureate Mary Oishi for her two years of service!   Register for August 30 reading link and open mic sign up on Zoom And, speaking of Poet Laurates, Ada Limón will serve as the 24th US poet laureate, officially called the Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry.
