Writers Institute: 50 Years On: The Afterlife of the Vietnam War

I have been invited to moderate the discussion & am excited to meet Cathy Linh Che, & to see again fellow veteran Gerald McCarthy. Gerry & I share space in the anthology Post Traumatic Press 2007: Poems by Veterans, & read together (& with other poet veterans) at an event promoting the book in May 2008.

Both Che's poetry collection Becoming Ghost & McCarthy's prose narrative Hitchhiking Home from Danang use personal memoir in different ways to focus on the generational effects of the Viet Nam war. I hope you can join me on September 9 at UAlbany, 4:30PM, in the Multi-Purpose Room, Campus Center West Addition, Uptown Campus.
