Upper Hudson Peace Action Alert

Spring brings hope - We hope that you will be able to join us on Friday, March 20, for a special evening timed to the Vernal Equinox, a time of renewal.

Celebrate the Equinox Through An Evening Of

Music And Poetry For Peace & Justice

So much of this world is in turmoil and under fire. Come together with us through friendship and our joint ties to peace and justice. You are most warmly invited to join in a congenial evening of peace poetry and song. Let meaningful music and words renew us, unite us, and, as spring renews the earth, let us be bolstered by one another and let our efforts for peace and justice be reenergized.

    Date: Friday, March 20, 2026

Time: 6:30 - 9:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30, along with open mic sign-up. Program is at 7.

Place: Friends Meeting House, 727 Madison Ave., Albany, NY 12208

Program:  Dan Wilcox is our MC. The evening will begin with music by the Solidarity Singers and poetry by Jeid Ebanks, followed by an open mic on the theme of peace & justice. Participate with music and poetry, or just come and enjoy hearing your friends. The event is free, and light refreshments will be offered. Please see biographies below.

Sponsors: Upper Hudson Peace Action, Women Against War, Hudson Valley Writers Guild, Poetry Motel Foundation.

MC for the evening, Dan Wilcox, is a poet & peace activist. He is the host of the Third Thursday Poetry Night at the Albany Social Justice Center; one can read his Blog about the poetry scene at dwlcx.blogspot.com

Poet Jeid Ebanks is a nurse, poet, humanitarian, and activist dedicated to community-centered care and social justice. Blending the healing arts of medicine and words, Jeid advocates for dignity, compassion, and resilience in the face of adversity. Recently, she traveled to the war-torn Palestinian Territories, including the West Bank and Gaza, where she provided vital crisis intervention and disaster relief to communities under siege. Rooted in service and solidarity, Jeid continues to use their voice and vocation to uplift marginalized communities both locally and globally.

Musicians, The Solidarity Singers have been performing rousing songs of social protest for decades throughout the Capital District -- at Labor Day picnics, peace movement meetings, union picket lines, political demonstrations, and other gatherings.  Although the membership and instruments have changed somewhat over the years, the group is still motivated by the belief that good social movements, like good lives, need good music.
We hope to see you! Bring friends!
