Hello Storytelling Friends,

I'm very excited to invite you to our next storytelling night at Caffe Lena!

In this one-hour special feature, we are honored by the presence of Tom Porter, Sakokwenionkwas (Sago gway noon gwas), “The One Who Wins.” He is the spokesperson and spiritual leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke (Ga na jo ha lay gay) in the Mohawk Valley near Fonda, New York.

He is a member of the Bear Clan of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, and he held the position of sub-chief for 21 years. He was also the director of and a teacher at the Akwesasne Freedom School, where he taught Mohawk language, philosophy, and history. He organized and lectured for the “White Roots of Peace,” a traveling multi-media campaign to revitalize Native traditions and beliefs in North America. Author of eleven books and pamphlets on Mohawk traditions, he also has four honorary doctorates from Keene State College in New Hampshire, Syracuse University, Trent University in Canada, and SUNY Cobleskill.

If you can't come in person (always the best option, you can stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV
