Dear Friends,
As many of you are aware, our fellow RPCV's (Liberia), John and Lyn Kucij lost their son Noah in April.
John has had health issues for several years. Last month he had L-Vad surgery in Westchester Medical Center. He was required to be there for fiveweeks. Lyn stayed in a motel, a B&B, and a camper during his extended stay.
The L-Vad procedure replaces the left ventricle which controls blood flow. He has an internal pump which is attached to an external batteries or an electrical outlet to circulate his blood.
Last Thursday I helped drive them to Westchester Hospital for doctor appointments. They received good news from the doctors and John is doing well. His bandages where the wires go into his body must be changed every third day. Lyn is a PA and is equipped
to do the job. However, if other people are in a position to help, it would be appreciated.
During the trip I asked how RPCV's could be of help. The major thing that came to their mind was to have lawn care done. Their son, Jallah, has been mowing the lawn. However, nothing else has been done because he has been busy with his own family, job, and
helping his parents.
I am taking up a collection to pay for lawn service and snow removal. If other needs are identified we may be able to help with that also.
I think that John and Lyn would enjoy company. Please call Lyn first at:
518-372-9578.
It might be good for someone to stay with John while Lyn goes shopping or has a break. John can go out also if you wish to take him or them out. John needs to sit in the back seat as he can not have air bags hit him if there is an accident.
Thanks for your support!
