This is forwarded for those of you in the poetry scene who knew Noah Kucij, who died in April. My friends & fellow peace activists, Harry & Joan Thornhill, are raising funds to help Noah's parents with lawn care & snow removal. See the messages below for more details. If you can help in any way please send a check to Harry Thornhill, or contact him, his phone number & email are included in the messages below. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you.
Peace,
DWx

Dear Dan,
Below is the letter I sent to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Feel free to share this with the Poetry groups that knew Noah.
We have collected enough for the lawn clean-up but would like to add snow removal to what we do for Lyn and John.
If anyone would like to contribute they can mail me at the address below.
John is in much better shape now than when I originally wrote the letter.  They are able to go out to some activities with John's portable batteries. He will not be able to lift heavy objects.  It is now six weeks since his surgery.
He needs to go to Westchester every few weeks for doctor appointments. Lyn is also doing well with all the challenges!
Thanks and have a good day!
Harry

Hey Harry,

Thanks for forwarding this along, I’m encouraged to hear about the doctor’s assessment of John given the circumstances. We’ll get this out with our next newsletter as soon as we can.

All the best,
Tim

Dear Friends,
As many of you are aware, our fellow RPCV's (Liberia), John and Lyn Kucij lost their son Noah in April.
John has had health issues for several years.  Last month he had L-Vad surgery in Westchester Medical Center. He was required to be there for fiveweeks.  Lyn stayed in a motel, a B&B, and a camper during his extended stay.
The L-Vad procedure replaces the left ventricle which controls blood flow.  He has an internal pump which is attached to an external batteries or an electrical outlet to circulate his blood.
Last Thursday I helped drive them to Westchester Hospital for doctor appointments.  They received good news from the doctors and John is doing well.  His bandages where the wires go into his body must be changed every third day.  Lyn is a PA and is equipped to do the job.  However, if other people are in a position to help, it would be appreciated.
During the trip I asked how RPCV's could be of help.  The major thing that came to their mind was to have lawn care done.  Their son, Jallah, has been mowing the lawn.  However, nothing else has been done because he has been busy with his own family, job, and helping his parents.
I am taking up a collection to pay for lawn service and snow removal. If other needs are identified we may be able to help with that also.
If you wish to donate, make checks out to:  Harry Thornhill and mail to 23 Jennifer Rd., Glenville, NY 12302
I think that John and Lyn would enjoy company.  Please call Lyn first at:  518-372-9578.
It might be good for someone to stay with John while Lyn goes shopping or has a break.  John can go out also if you wish to take him or them out.  John needs to sit in the back seat as he can not have air bags hit him if there is an accident.
Thanks for your support!
Harry Thornhill
