How old are you?, he asks.
Why I’m as old as a mother’s lullaby,
as old as drawings on the walls of caves,
old as the creatures who inhabit
the ocean floor, the birds
that color the jungle trees.
I am a continuum of all life —
energy whose form evolves
over time as needed. There
are no boundaries limiting me.
I have no age, only purpose.
