Butterfly dream or dream of Dzhuang Dzi's

Two thousand years ago, Dzhuang Dzi,
the master, pointed to a butterfly.
"In my dream," he said, "I was this butterfly
and now I am a little confused."

"Butterfly," he said, "yes, I was a butterfly,
and the butterfly danced happily in the sun,
and had no idea that it was Dzhuang Dzi...
And I woke up... And now I don't know,
now I don't know,"
he continued pensively,
"what is the truth, which one can I be:
did Dzhuang Dzi dream the butterfly,
or is the butterfly dreaming me?

I laughed: "Don't joke, Dzhuang Dzi!
Who would you be? You are Dzuang Dzi! You, of course!"
He smiled: "The butterfly in the dream
believed its own truth just like that!"

He smiled,
I shrugged. Then
something still made me shiver,
I've been pondering it for two thousand years since then,
but I'm getting more and more uncertain,

and now I think there is no truth,
that everything is image and poetry,

And that Dzhuan Dzi dreams the butterfly,
the butterfly dreams  him and I dream all three of us."
