The Twelfth Step

It was like a feeling of connection, as if all the planets and all the people of all time were linked by an invisible web. The majesty of the moment almost made it impossible for me to breathe.

There seemed to be a huge force field connecting all people, their intentions and thoughts, and in all the forms of inanimate matter that had ever existed. Time was an artificial construction.

Everything I had been taught about the universe seemed to be wrong. There were no accidents or individual intentions. It was not something to be understood with the mind, but a forceful, visceral feeling, as if it were spreading through the window visually to the farthest reaches of the cosmos.

On the return trip home, gazing through 240,000 miles of space toward the stars and the planet from which I had come, I suddenly experienced the universe as intelligent, loving, harmonious.

What a great description. It really conveys the register!

Thanks Ken!

Hi Ken
A synchrony...
I included that account in my book The End of the World and other stories. Under the title "Perspectives". I was taken completely by the description....

A big hug!!

Do not imagine that you are alone in your village, in your city, or among the infinite worlds.

Do not imagine that you are enchained to this time and this space.

Do not imagine that upon your death, loneliness will become eternal.
