She chose their opportunities

To become strong, not weak

By pulling up her boot straps

She acquired the dreams we seek.

 

Her personal goals of well being

Will never stand in the way

Of doing her public duty

No matter what others may say.

 

Her devotion shall prove contagious

It's the brilliance of her kind

What you find within her

Is great character of mind.

 

With faith and courage, she must live

For her life to be complete

With good morals and family life

She’ll triumph, even in defeat.

 

She was raised to participate

Within her community

With her fellow men and women

She'll enrich life and liberty.

Sarah Palin brings
a few thoughts to mind.
Worn-out clichés
from another time.

Stupid is as stupid does,
and a sucker is born
with every minute past,

and she’ll prove both
every time she’s asked…

Sarah strikes me as a bit of a bimbo, but I have a feeling it's an
act. I remember how Ronald Reagan played the sa,e simpleton act, to
position himself as a man of the people vs. the Ivy League elite, and
how other Republicans have tried the same gambit: from Dan Quayle
(unsuccessfully) to G Dubya Bush (quite successfully). They've been
aided and abetted in that by those in the media, who love to portray
right-wingers as nuts and/or morons. But it's not just a right-wing
thing: up here in Canada, Jean Chretien enjoyed a good run as cabinet
minister and finally PM by positioning himself as just a plain-
speaking small-town lawyer.

Anyway, this is a poetry forum, so let me offer the only poem I ever
wrote that mentions Palin (from last November):

It's true that Obama's a star
But Joe Biden is pure CFR,
And while Palin is cool,
John McCain is a fool.
It's time for real change. Vote Bob Barr.
