Hand to her chest, an earnest look,
I’m getting old, my youth you took
in some kind of regulated role.

Now I want loose, maybe free.
Little did she know, she said it for me...

I drove home a bit drunk again.
Been drinking all night with a good friend.
Talking of our marriages, how they went astray.
Laughing at our right for a better way.

Now the night ends, another wasted time.
My apartments dark, the light I can’t find.
Stumbled over something, then hit the bed.
Before sleep comes, regret fills my head.

I wonder why I get to be free.
Marriage and children were a glory to me.
Despite all that I still fell.
The journey down gives a story to tell.
A warning perhaps is what I should say.
Enjoy what you have and cherish the day.
In the blink of a eye it can be taken away...
