Dear Poe friends
H'lo. It been far too long since my last post. I was thinking of Donna Freeman who always encouraged me to post my Poe stories. Although this attachment is not a story, I hope she would have enjoyed it.
Recently I found a copy of a letter written on 22 Mar 1849 by Adam Poe, son of the Indian fighter Andrew Poe. Andrew Poe was wounded by a tomahawk strike during his combat with Big Foot in June 1781. His brother Adam shot the Indian named Big Foot. In the letter, Adam Poe described the life of the first settlers on the frontier in the 1780s.

Subject: Poe-Family Passing of Donna Cook Freeman
I am very sad to forward a message that Donna Cook Freeman has passed away. Donna was a longtime friend and fellow researcher who contributed much to my Poe research. She was of the Poe family of Stephen Poe, Revolutionary War patriot who settled Walker / Franklin County, GA and whose widow died in Benton / Calhoun Country, Alabama.
Stephen Poe (1759-1843) Mary
Her line settled in Waldron, Arkansas. She was related to McDonald Poe, an attorey in Waldron, who did much spadework on the family originas in Essex Co, Virgina.
Donna lived many years in Bodega Bay, California.
She will be sorely missed.
William Poe
