Anirud, Are you attempting to retrieve all of the archive files that were corrupted.

From your last post, you speak of what you were able to do, but nothing more.

If the corrupt archive is the only copy, only chance would be with people and tools that do this kind of work.

There is no work-around or fix to fix a corrupted archive.

If you are running out of space in your IBM Notes email, but are not ready to delete emails, consider archiving them. Archiving emails means copying messages to a different location on your computer. Our company makes us archive our emails on a network drive. My archive.nsf file (NOT my regular mail.nsf file) has exceeded the quota limit for our network drive. I need to reduce the size of my archive file, but I can't do it ON the network drive because there's no space available to me.

To open a database in your Lotus Notes Client you have two possibilities: if you Client is installed correctly, you just have to doubleclick the nsf in explorer: it will automatically open up in you lotus notes client. If this does not work, then use Ctrl + O (The menu choice "File - Open - Lotus Notes Application") and use the "Browse" button to select the archive. Then you can reduce it in size. Afterwards just move it back to its original location.

If you want to permanently access the database from its new location, then you need to adjust your Archive Settings. Just open your mailfile and click on "Actions - Archive -Edit Archive settings" in the menu. There you can change the location for the archive permanently.

Archiving policy is enabled/done on the server end on a weekly basis, which moves 1 year old email from the inbox to archive. Space is getting low in D: partition therefore I have added new drive (E:) and wants to move user email Archives to new partition E:\ARCHIVE

Using Domino Admin Client MOVE function is a better way to go ?

If i use MOVE function from domino client , I have to change the folders settings in Archive policy setting too? what is better?

I do want to add, how is your rchiving being triggered and how are the paths being determined. If your archive files are not already in a distinct directory they will need to be isolated. The redirect will also point any calls to non archive files in the current archive location

So If I select MOVE method (using Domino Console), the advantage of this approach is that I dont have to shut down the domino server. plus domino will itself be well aware of the operation.

After MOVE , I have to change the folder path in the Archive Policy, plus I have to add the new path/partition in Symantec Backup Exec as well. and there will be no need to make any setting on REPLICA server.

Hi, you will need to get the timing right. If the mailfiles are not moved into the new folder before your scheduled server archive runs then new archive files will be created which may complicate things.

It should work but I am not a big fan of the Move option on the same server. It replicates the database and then you can end up with two replicas of the same database on the same server which can cause replication issues.

Ok finally I have received the upgrade storage for my email server. Now its mounted as e: drive with new folder e:\archive2

there are around 650 + files in my my D:\lotus\domino\data\mail\archive, When I select them all and click on move, and selected my destination server (same) then on left pane, I have to select each file and edit, change the path, and click on Arrow, I have to do reapt this for each file.

How can I change the path from archive\XXX.nsf to archive2\XXX.nsf in single go ?

I am big fan of MOVE operation, but after few months, I have to replace this server with new server, then it would be a problem to move the archives again. there fore above Operation was good

I am running this code locally, against a Notes server called "Answers1/Answers". I am now thinking based on From the Notes server, the nsf files are located on a network fileshare of "NotesMail_FDrive\ARchives\xyz.nsf".

The value for sMailFile should not be "\10.10.10.71\notesdata1\NotesMail\ARchives\scady.nsf". The other two values that you have commented out are also wrong. The arguments for getDatabase are the Domino server's distinguished name, and a relative path. No server IP, no volume, and no "file:" prefix. Just something like this: "archives\scady.nsf". It should be exactly what you see for the path when you open up the database in your Notes client and bring up the database properties dialog.

But why are you using File.Exists? The Domino server wants exclusive access to all of the files in its data tree. If you are actually successfully accessing the file on the Domino server via a filesystem call, then perhaps you are locking the Domino server out of accessing it.

Archiving means copying all the data to another location on the same system. You can archive all your emails and other mailbox data to save space in your Notes account. Also, by doing this you can keep your old data for future reference without actually deleting them.
