So in picking my Podpal kids, I have quite a few in mind but need to
pick your brain - when tracking data and picking kids, how will we
delineate the kids who are receiving additional intervention. For
example, three of my lowest in my morning are also being pulled for
OT, ELA or Sped. Should I pick more PP kids? Help! :)

As you are creating your corecasts, lease share hints and tricks with
your colleagues! Please discuss and contribute here.

Any thoughts, hints and tips for our group on taping your class for
the alphabet podcast would be much appreciated!

I would pick the lowest kids regardless if they are pulled out, they
obviously need the most help.

I think it is right to pick the lowest kids, as they certainly do need
the most help. But I would also say this: don't forget those
"bubble" kids! They could move from partially proficient to
proficient with these type of activities. That could make a huge
difference in the data as well. I am thinking there is not one
answer, as we are all so different, maybe a nice compromise would be
to remember both types of kids when selecting.

Maybe there needs to be a discussion about which kids best meet the
criteria for an "action research project". I think we need to collect
the
data in a way that best supports our premise and then we can
expand the program to include any kids we think would benefit.
Our objective is to help kids get what they need to succeed but
we may have to do it a certain way to be able to gather data on
the results that make them reliable and valid. I don't have the
answer to how we can be sure we do that. Anybody remember
their statistics class? Terri

Since "low" might be different for each class, maybe we need to set an
outcome goal for our data to be comparable- such has "At the end of
the designated time period, all participants will be able to identify
all capital and lower case letters, make letter-sound associations
with consonants, and identify 3 of 5 short vowel sounds."
I agree that it does not matter what other services are being provided
and that those should not exclude anyone from this program.
I am conferencing this week and I will mention this program to the
select parents. I am looking forward to what their reactions will
be...

I think the struggling students are the ones we should concentrate on
since they are the ones with the greatest needs regardless of any
other interventions they are receiving.

I am having a hard time making sure everyone is seen in the video. My
first try was only the tops of everyone's heads. Another try only
showed the kids right in front. I could make a good blooper video.
I'll keep trying.

I was having the same problem with not getting everyone in the video.
So I just had the kids I picked for the podikit pals come back in at
recess and I re-taped with just them ( they knew the sounds and
motions pretty well). I think they will be excited to see themselves.

I am also going to focus on my lowest students. However, I am going
to look at attendance and responsibility level (I have one that has
not returned a thing even though I have talked with mom many times).
Are people planning on sending home the ipod we got from the district?
I was not sure since we had to sign our lives away :)
