Rhyming words are words that have the same sound at the end of them.
Listen as I read the rhyme again. LIsten to hear the word that rhymes
with around.
(Read the rhyme again with emphasis on the rhyming words).
Say:
Did you hear that ground rhymes with around? Ground rhymes with
around because they both have the /ound/ sound at the end of the word.
Now let's read the rhyme together once again. As we read listen to
hear the word that rhymes with shoe.
Put your finger on the green dot to get ready to read.
Ready... (read the rhyme once more).
Say:
Did you hear that you rhymes with shoe? You and shoe are rhyming
words because they both have the /oo/ sound at the end of the word.

together.
Say:
The title of the rhyme is One, Two Buckle My Shoe.
Point to the title. It's bigger and darker than the rest of the words.
Let's read this rhyme together. Put your finger on the green dot.
Ready...
One, two,
Buckle my shoe
Three, four,

Do it again!
Skill Work:
Say:
Rhyming words are words that have the same sound at the end of them.
Listen as I read part of the rhyme again. Listen to hear which word
rhymes with two. (Read the first two lines).
Did you hear that shoe rhymes with two? Shoe and two rhyme because
they both have the /oo/ sound at the end of the word.
As I read the rest of the rhyme point to the two words that rhyme.
(Read Five, six, pick up sticks)
Did you point to six and sticks? They rhyme because they both have
the sound of /icks/ at the end of each word.
(Read Seven, eight, lay them straight)
Did you point to eight and straight? They rhyme because they both
have the sound of /ate/ at the end of each word.
(Read Nine, ten, do it again!)
Did you point to ten and again? They rhyme because they both have the
sound of /in/ at the end of each word.
Now that you have practiced listening for rhyming words, you can enjoy
listening for rhyming words in more rhymes that you read and hear!
