Does anyone else set up a new Workspace for EVERY new client?

At the moment, I am setting up a Workspace for every new client
project.

Advantages:
- can privatise and restrict access to only staff who work on that
client
- central space for only info related to that client, instead of it
being mixed up with other clients deliverables, projects, notes, etc.
without being grouped

Disadvantages:
- It seems you have not catered for many workspaces. E.g. I have 200
clients, and there is no search to find the workspace quickly, I would
need to scroll and search each time.

OR should I use one single 'Client Projects' workspace, and set up
each client as a Project?
But this way I cant see any method to restrict access to projects by
employee? And client work gets muddled with other client work in the
other apps like deliverables, notes, files, requests - and there is no
clear grouping/filtering by client options.

Please help!

Sorry to post this in the developer group, but I am struggling with
how to start using this awesome software.

Is there any other user forum for these questions as well, I would
love to hear how others are tackling this issue? Is a user forum in
the pipeline?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Asking these kind of questions in the developer group is fine, but I
have some fine colleges that work with user engagement that can answer
this question much better.

I think a non-developer user forum might be a good idea, since you don't
seem to be the only that would like the opinion and suggestions of other
Podio users, rather than just get 1-to-1 support.

Until we have such a thing ready, though (and it's not something we have
planned, but I will suggest it), I think you should send your question
to sup...@podio.com

Thanks,
Casper

David,

Asking questions if of course fine, but a better forum for it may be the
PodioTalk space in which the Podio UE team interacts with customers. I've
forwarded your message to a couple members of the User Engagement team and
I'm sure they'll have you added shortly. If others are interested in
getting access to that group, I think the best bet may be to email
sup...@podio.com, but don't quote me on that!

Cheers,
Nick

I find it utterly strange that many web-based PM/CRM solutions don't have a FORUM where users can help each other, find solutions to problems without bugging support (instant gratification) and, oh! not bug support, so they can focus on solving new problems. Plus, prospective users can see the level of participation on the forum, and conclude that the software is actually being actively used.

Are forums a strange concept in the web2.0 world? Why do only relatively old-school solutions like WORKetc or Solve360 have a user forum?

Is there fear of criticism of the software being made public on the forum?

I honestly don't get it. If I were to start any SaaS, I'd outfit it with a ticketing system like Zendesk and a forum like Vanilla Forums right from the start. Why don't SaaS ventures do this way more often?

Phil, can you add me as well ?

Ps. I feel your pain.. we actually create a new space for every new
project we do.. so if a single client has 3 projects we have 3 spaces
for that.

Phil, im also intrested joining the forum. As a non-developer I am looking for a place to find answers on how to develop solutions more as an administrator than coder. Cheers //Andreas

We feel the pain. Every workspace for us is a different project.

I built a project app and a client app, in the Project you need to select a Client.
This way i can filter on client and see everything of the client without any other stuff.

I have built a Sales app like it, every sale is is handeld as a project it has comment, data, contracts calculations, approvals , status, ...
Every sale needs to select a Rep, Client and Product this way i can get al the data and do calculations for payment and commissions.
Now i want to give the sales people a Profile, this way they can track the contract status and have overviews of the commissions.
The problem is when you put them all together into one workspace they can check each others details. And thats a problem.
Some tips would be nice to tackle this.

I know i can achieve this with the API but that's the next step ;-)
hoping for Javascript & Node or a Rest way .

And an add to the other  forum would be appreciated ;-)

Hi,

This mailing list is for questions about using the Podio API. For general questions about Podio please use sup...@podio.com.

The API uses REST/JSON, so it shouldn't be too hard to consume from Node.

Sorry for this post but it would be nice to discusse these things with other people,
Can i post this in the Project Management Community.
Or can you create a second Google group for non-devs this way we don't need to mail the support team every time.
less work for you guys ;-)

Sorry again and cheers

Hi w3bwizart,

I agree that we (podio users) need a place for this kind of discussions. This is why we (BendixKiel) have initiated a new blog called www.podiohelp.com. We will launch this very soon and hope that this could be a place where users get inspiration, answers and find facilitators.

At the same time I think that the PM community for now would be a good place to ask this kind of questions. The problem with the PM community is that it is an invite only community and not open for web searches etc.

Anders,

You might want to clear the name with Podio - I believe using it in the domain could lead to trademark problems for them and hassle for all the parties involved. (IANAL, but I do read ToS)

We are working on a better solution for letting both API developers and regular users discuss Podio and help each other.

Hey all I am currently setting up Podio and have run into this exact problem.
We have 3 clients and each client has a number of very quick turn around projects that we need to see through weekly. I have set up a work space for each client and then with in this I have et up apps.
Big projects
Deliverables
Tickets

What i want to achieve is allow external developers assigned to only single projects/deliverables/tickets and they can sort by thier jobs only and update the system while they are working (kind of like a rollign ticket system) which I then want it to alert the account manager that a new 'request or comment' has been applied to the deliverable/ticket.

My issue is as soon I invite a developer or client into the workspace then they see every job that is on and can edit any of these.

I need to be able to assign developers to single projects/deliverables or tickets, can anyone suggest how I set this up better and allow for specific access like this?

Also would love an invoite to the forum.

Thanks
James
