There's a lot of events coming up in MKE and MSN; FoodCamp, PhotoCamp,
OpenCamp (name still being debated), QueerCamp, etc.

My question is do people think it would be advantageous for this group
to provide audio recordings of said events? These could either be
streamed live (ideal) or released later (much, much easier).

Having helped run Open Everything Madison, I feel this is something we
missed out on. Obviously, with the camp environment there will be
different things going on, so you'd need multiple people recording to
capture everything. Just a thought. I also want to point out that
even having low quality recordings is better than having none at all.

Yes. It's a good idea.

We used to record Web414 meetings and post them online a day or so
later, which was great for people who couldn't make it, or for people
who had some interest, but never got around to coming, to give a taste
of what a meeting was like.

Also, you can put the audio on archive.org with a nice CC license. :)

So, is anyone besides Pete interested in this? Do you think it would
boost the groups' profile?

I'm looking at picking up a couple of cheap lightweight video cameras. I'm hoping to get ones that will stream but currently I'm not sure if that will happen. At the very least I plan on being able to record archival footage of upcoming events.

An ETA on that? I'm hoping to get some good archival footage of my
presentation on March 17th: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=53353637933

I'll definitely be talking about some licensing issues pertinent to
podcasters.

Well if I find the cameras I want in next week and have the money I'll be all set. Otherwise it won't happen until next month.
