We feel a bit like we've woken up in a strange alternate universe this week with everything going on, and this morning, 343 Industries isn't helping us shake that feeling. The team has just dropped what feels like a launch trailer for Halo Infinite - two and a half years after the game's launch.

Okay, so, it's not really a launch trailer - more an overview of the game's multiplayer suite in mid-2024. They've labelled it an "extended multiplayer trailer " here, with a rather defiant 'This is Halo' tagline. Check the clip out up above, and we'll drop the team's trailer description down below.

Now, we're not sure of the purpose behind this trailer to be honest, but it at least does a pretty good job at showing how Halo Infinite has evolved over the years. There's absolutely tons of content crammed into this game's multiplayer nowadays, from the addition of Firefight to endless Forge mode creations led by the community and much more.

We heard earlier this year that 343 was transitioning away from 'Seasons' to 'Content Updates' - a hint that development was starting to wind down on Halo Infinite. If we were to hazard a guess, this new multiplayer trailer is another pointer towards the inevitable end of Halo Infinite's life cycle.

Ben is a News Writer at Pure Xbox, and is a fan of action, racing and straight-up shootin' in any Xbox game he can get his hands on. When he's not clutching an Xbox controller like his life depends on it, Ben spends his time listening to music that's far too old for him, watching football on the telly and probably eating somewhere.

Anyways taking a break from Halo for a while. I really feel the game has been squandered and this trailer is great but too little too late for folks like me who have supported the game since technical test 1 and launch day.

@Ver it wasn't for me I preferred guardians multiplayer and open world for halo is just wrong for me a halo fan the campaign was basically farcry with a halo skin but glad you liked it buddy no opinion is wrong

@Ricky-Spanish lol. Did you forget about Halo 5? Gameplay was a little better than Infinite, but wow, that story was so awful and derailed the series so badly, that it would take more than Infinite's broken launch to dethrone Halo 5 from "Worst Halo Ever."

I've stuck with this game since the early flighting stages, and boy has it had its highs and lows. At this rate it almost feels more divisive than Halo 4 or Reach, but I still enjoy my time with it. If only it had launched in the state it's in now, and perhaps delivered on some early promises like assassinations in multiplayer or split screen campaign, it could have been more unanimously praised. 343i has had a lot stacked against them, but I'm glad they didn't get shut down or give up.

@Ver They still haven't fixed desync since launch, 2 years ago, and their last test for improvement of it wasn't promising. Still tons of desync. And it is even more obvious when you have two Series X's playing it side by side.

@somnambulance well you put me on the spot here aahh didn't expect to be called out but I'm going with "If I have to tell you you'll never know" its a reference find out from what for your answer it's TIME!!

That's nice and all but Halo needs new blood, we need some new cooks in the kitchen asap! I would have id software or Raven make the next Halo game, heck I would even put 343 on COD and have Treyarch make Halo.

@GeorgeKal From a subjective stand point it can absolutely be the best FPS in your opinion. Looking at the bigger picture with player feedback, current player numbers, broken promises from 343I and its objectively not the best FPS ever. Not even the best Halo ever. But good for you that you like it, I was pretty dissapointed myself!

@mac_da_man its the truth either you like it or not... That happens with all xbox games. Just take starfield as an example. 3rd game based on sales on steam behind BG3 and Hogwarts and its also on gamepass day one. So many people still playing it after months and everyone trying to convince us its a failure. Well its not just like halo infinite isnt... Still in the top 10 most played games almost every month after 3 years but you think its a failure. Why people playing those failures?
